My name is Shannon Echlin and I’ve been a photographer for almost as long as I can remember. As a kid whenever I was proud of something I’d accomplished usually some sort of fort building the task was never complete until I had photo documented my handy work. As a teenager I began taking photos of all my friends and found that I had a strong connection with people while behind the camera. When I was fifteen I got my first summer job as a photographer for a local newspaper taking pictures of children enjoying their summer vacations.

As far as education goes I went to Sheridan College for Applied photography then Ontario College of Art and Design for Fine Arts. This is how I ended up in downtown Toronto where I have lived for the past ten years.

After art school I worked in magazine publishing and discovered cubicle life was a bad fit for me. After four years of that I set out on my own and here I am. I’ve been focused on photographing children and babies since February 2009. Everyday I love it more and more and I feel I’ve really found the what I was meant to do. In this here blog I like to share my work, my passion for cooking and local crafts and a little bit of my everyday life with my friends and family.
