Hibiscus in Kensington Market

This my friends is one of the best lunch deals in town. It is vegan and nutritious but don’t be scared. I’ve taken people to this place who do not like hippie food and they were OK.

So this is the deal, for $7.50 they give you a giant bowl of salad: quinoa, beets, carrots, sweet potato, tofu, green beans, chick peas etc. etc. etc. AND a bowl of soup, hot in the winter, cold in the summer. They once gave me and a friend of mine watermelon gazpacho and every time we walk by Hibiscus he says: “Do you remember that soup, the melon one with mint in it????” But he says all dreamy eyed like he’s talking about his first kiss or something.

There are also buckwheat crepes. They are pretty fantastic as well, goat cheese, basil and tomato is my favorite.

On your way out grab the vegan brownie. Because it is also amazing! Last time I went I skipped the brownie because they sent me on my way with a giant chunk of free fair trade dark chocolate. They are always friendly, the service is always quick which is handy if you are taking a quick break from work to eat. You will feel a hundred times healthier after this incredibly low priced soup and salad combo!
